When you think of the Maldives you always think of something unattainable, something you see on the television but never in real life. Fortunately recently I was lucky enough to be on the trip of a lifetime to the Maldives.
The Gili Lankanfushi resort is an aesthetically please 800m island, basically 2 laps of a track and you've completed the island!
It's an amazing cross between rustic and luxury.
As a getaway it's perfect, it's a time to switch off from the hectic humdrum of metropolitan life, switch off whatsapp, Instagram (except for your daily post) and draw in the stunning views, sounds and smells of a tropical island.
The Head Chef there John Bakker had created and amazing organic garden which grows many of the island produce picked and used freshly on the day they are consumed at the restaurant.
His latest experiment, a worm farm, to encourage fertilised soil!
This kind of passion and input into your job is exceptional.
The resort boasts a host of activities which we enjoyed.
Snorkelling on the local reefs.
Marine biology centre.
Jungle outdoor cinema.
Spa and gym facilities with a huge array of exceptional treatments.
The food was mixed between a la carte menu and buffet nights, all of which were of an exceptionally high standard.
This trip is a highlight in your life, the island itself will make you see life from a different perspective and coupled with the friendly nature of the staff and the theme of the resort you will return to your own country with a new lease of life.
We flew from Dubai to Maldives with Qatar Airlines, which is now not available however there are daily flights from Emirates and FlyDubai.
